2008 Chicago Area Whippet Racing
Bulletin! The GCWC is now offering Race Meets, and practices, for Silken Windhounds!The Greater Chicago Whippet Club (GCWC) sponsors whippet racing under the authority of the Whippet Racing Association (WRA), the racing for other sighthounds under the authority of the Large Gazehound Racing Association (LGRA) and Silken Windhounds under the authority of the International Silken Windhound Society (ISWS). The the Midwest Whippet Racing Association (MWRA)offers whippet racing under the authority of the Whippet Racing Association (WRA). Please call to confirm all practice dates and if the weather looks questionable. Check this page often for schedule changes and cancellations. For Antioch practices, call Gregg Gammie (708-447-5480) no later than 9:30 AM the day of the practice. For Gardner practices, call Del or Maggie at (815.237.9987). Antioch Practices start at noon and are $2 per dog for the day. Non members who come at 10:30 and help with the grounds work practice for free. Gardner Practices: Are $2 per dog for the day for Non members. For all July and August practices. Cracks in the track must be filled before racing starts. Crack filling starts at 6:30 am. Practice at 7am. No one practices till all cracks in the track are filled. Practice ends at 12:00 Noon. April through May Practices start at 9:30. Crack filling and other grounds work starts at 8:30
